Day 6 - Kessingland Beach to Wellington Barracks

Hi Everyone,

So we did it!!! 610 miles later, it was an amazing site to see Buckingham Palace (Wellington Barracks) as we cycled down the The Mall. We got a great response from a lot of strangers, that waved and cheered as we cycled past some of London's most famous monuments (e.g big ben, london eye & the wellington barracks) as a soldier let us through the gates into the courtyard everyone jumped off their bikes, cheered and hugged each other.
There were a few tears but it was the happiest moment of the whole journey, emotions were high and it was clear to see everyone was proud of themselves. We opened a bottle of Champagne and came up with the idea of creating a Harlem Shake video to celebrate.
We then travelled to Park Resorts holiday park in Kent where there was a party in our honour, put on by the Ashworth family for us to celebrate.
There was an awards ceremony where Duane Ashworth presented everyone with a trophy for their hard work and a nickname that they had a gained over the week.

Hi All

Sorry the blog is a few hours late but we just wanted to celebrate after completing the cycle, just packing up to come back to Corby.

A great thank you to Duane and Caroline for their hospitality last night, it was a fun evening even though i was labelled 'Cycling Geek' in the awards ;)

All in all a great week and a massive achievement for all those involved.

Now looking forward to getting home and a sleep in my own bed instead of a motorhome! :)

There will be a load of video's and photo's uploaded once home .. stay tuned!
